How To Have a Profitable
Website
I think it's pretty safe to say that all
Internet business owners want their websites to be profitable. Here are
a few tips that could help you make your website a profitable one.
Some of these suggestions may seem a bit obvious, but you may not have
thought of all of them. In general, your website should reflect
your image, reinforce your brand, and convey a persuasive message.
A good website will drive sales up, reduce your overall marketing
budget, and significantly improve your bottom line.
Some of your objectives for your website
should be;
-
To Expand your market reach
-
Generate leads
-
Acquire new customers
-
Increase sales
-
Establish a relationship with website visitors
-
Communicate with customers
-
Disseminate product and service information
-
Provide customer support
-
Improve customer loyalty
-
Reduce the overall cost of marketing
-
Make your
content and graphics relevant.
If you make a website for a business
then make sure it looks like you are serious about doing business.
Far too often, especially with small businesses, I see people trying
to give their website "personality" and what they are really doing
is showing how non-business-like they are. Your job is to make
the casual web surfer believe that you are professional and good at
what you do or make and can be trusted. Pictures of your dog
or your horse just are not professional so don't do it.
-
Get your
website visitors to return.
Offer your visitors incentives to get
them to return to your website. Things like frequently
changing content, ebooks, software, electronic magazine/newsletter,
etc. Alert visitors by email when you add new content to your
website or use RSS to push teasers out to them in an effort to get
them to return to your website.
-
Be an
active participant of your website.
Respond to any questions that your web visitors might have as
quickly as you can. Publish an FAQ page of all your Frequently
Asked Questions. Update it with new questions on a regular
basis and provide as many possible ways for the web visitor to
contact you if he can't find the answer to his questions on your
website.
-
Be
Original.
It's easy to surf The Internet and collect information to put on
your website, but it's not a good idea to do it. Write your
own ORIGINAL content. Be mindful of your audience and be sure
to include your keywords in your content as much as you can without
it being obvious that you are seeding your words. Use bullets,
headlines, bold text and keep on topic. If you have the
ability to offer something free and original like software on an
online utility do so.
-
Keep a
tidy website
Make sure all
navigation and links work. Test them in at least the top 3 web
browsers to ensure that everything looks as it should and works as
it should. When something doesn't work on a website the web
visitor will leave and worse yet they may bad-mouth your company or
at least their experience while visiting your website.
-
Use good
organization
Your website layout must be in a logical sequence. For
example, don't give away any free item before you show them the
product(s) you are selling.
-
Build
Credibility
The most
professionally designed site won't sell if your customers don't
believe in you. Become an authority in your chosen niche. The
internet is all about information, not just marketing. People go to
the internet to find information on a particular subject. Providing
clear concise articles focused on the subject of your site makes you
an expert in your field. Providing a clear privacy statement is also
away to build your credibility. Provide a prominent link to your
privacy statement from every page on the site as well as from any
location that you are asking your visitors for personal information.
Provide legitimate contact information on line, including your
mailing address and telephone number.
